Microsoft introduced social listening in the 2015 version. Microsoft Social Listening is an add-on program that monitors social media sites and collects data of your company in the process. The data is then visualized for you through user-friendly graphs and diagrams giving you valuable insight.

You can get vital information from social media feeds. Vital information that you can use actively to prevent future loss of orders or increase customer satisfaction.

#3 It is a complete and integrated solution

The interplay between Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016, Office 365 and Excel is also one of Microsoft’s core areas. Users of Dynamics NAV will recognize the importance of having one complete and integrated solution where all programs are compatible.

In the 2013 R2 version Microsoft started developing an integrated solution and the 2016 version has been improved significantly. The integration between Dynamics NAV 2016, Office 365 and Excel is perfect. For instance, you can share and transfer data and information directly from NAV to Excel or import budgets to NAV from Excel.

#4 Data is king and Power BI is the future

Power BI was introduced in the 2015 version for the first time. Power BI provides you with an accurate overview of your business with diagrams and key performance indicators giving you and your employee’s insight in all the important facets of your business.

There is a new integration to Power BI in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016. With the new Power BI Content Pack, the users can connect NAV with Power BI and get an instant business performance overview. It is now simpler to share and present a large amount of data in a way that is easy to understand for the rest of your company. Power BI pulls information directly from Dynamics NAV so you and your colleagues can explore and analyze your business performance based on a series of different parameters.

#5 Workflow and OCR: Automatic procedures

In Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016, there are several new features in relation to workflow. Workflow is defined as progression of steps that comprise a work process involving two or more persons, and create or add value to the organization’s activities. Workflow templates are one of the new features. Workflow templates work as a series of rules for a specific task. This could be purchasing. The rules could be 1) who needs to approve the document, 2) in what order people need to approve the documents, and 3) what happens when the final approval is given.

It is all about automatic work procedures and increasing productivity.

Sales and purchasing approvals are now a part of the workflow in NAV 2016 and in the newest version, you can also create notifications to a colleague when you want the person to act on a specific task.

Optical Character Recognition, also called OCR, is another newly introduced feature. The OCR integration enables you to convert printed invoices or credit memos directly to NAV.

With the OCR technology, you can receive an invoice to your mailbox and the OCR technology reads and recognizes the information on the document, save it in a file and registers the purchase order. OCR replaces all the manual typing. You are going to save an awful lot of time and the first 75 documents each month is free. Previously, OCR technology was primarily confined to large global corporations but the technology is now accessible for small and medium sized business in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016.
