In recent years, cloud solutions have gained a foothold and it is understandable why. There are a series of advantages when moving to the cloud and we will take a closer look at those in this article.
#1 Flexible and scalable
Cloud solutions are highly flexible and can be scaled up or down based on your needs. Most cloud suppliers provide you with unlimited scalability in order to meet future growth or immediate changes. If your company experiences rapid growth, you can scale your solution without having to change your existing IT system. When you work in the cloud, you do not have to worry about server capacity or hosting since you have complete access to unlimited storage and scalability.
35% of the companies moving to the cloud do it to replace outdated on-premise technology. Often ERP-systems cannot accommodate the company’s growth due to a lack of scalability.
#2 Increased efficiency and better customer service
Cloud solution provides you with storage of and easy access to data and programs via the internet rather than on the computer’s hard disc. A Microsoft research shows that 67% of the companies that have moved to the cloud experience faster delivery to their clients and partners.
#3 Automatic updates
One of the convenient aspects of cloud computing is that all servers are maintained and run by the supplier. Your cloud supplier is also responsible for providing you with software and security updates. This gives you the opportunity to solely focus on developing your business further.
Software-as-a-service (SaaS) is the most commonly used cloud solution. With SaaS, you pay a subscription fee in order to use programs hosted in the sky. The advantage is, among other things, that the programs are updated continuously and that your cloud supplier implements new upgrades without your interference.
#4 Work wherever whenever
If you want to work, the only thing you need is an internet connection. With an internet connection, you can access all your data, applications etc. So, you do not have to be in the office in order to work and access your most important data. You can work wherever, whenever you like without any limitations.
It is also up to you whether you want to use a laptop, tablet or a smartphone. You can access the cloud with any device and any platform. For this reason, productivity may increase because of the flexibility and opportunities to access all programs and files no matter where you are and no matter which device you want to use.
#5 Save money
Cloud suppliers can typically offer a lower price due to economies of scale. Additionally, the implementation process of cloud-based services is less time-consuming and companies moving to the cloud are going to experience reduced maintenance expenses. A research conducted by the American IT company CSC shows that 82% of users said they saved money by moving to the cloud. A staggering 93% of the respondents said their cloud implementation improved their IT performance.
#6 Eco-friendly solution
Cloud solutions not only save you time and money, they are also eco-friendly. When your consumption varies the server capacity adapts and scales accordingly to avoid unnecessary CO2 emissions. According to research conducted by Microsoft, companies running software and applications internally can reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions with up to 90% by moving to the cloud. According to Google, the percentage of energy consumption is around 60-85% while a research conducted by SalesForce shows that CO2 emissions can be reduced by 95%.
