The Gift Card module in NP Ecommerce and NP Retail works across platforms. This basically means that you can buy a gift card in the web store, and use it not only in the web store, but also in the brick-and-mortar store. And vice versa for a gift card bought in the brick-and-mortar store. In this video you will see an example of a gift card sold in the web store.
A customers want to buy a gift card, so she presses the menu item ”Gift Card”. She fills in the name of person for whom she is buying the gift card, and selects an amount; let’s say 400. Then she adds it to her cart, and proceeds to check out. She fills in the required information and proceeds to payment. She makes a credit card payment. And… done! The purchase has been completed!
After a few seconds the customer receives two emails in her mailbox. A confirmation email with the details of the purchase. And an email that contains the actual gift card, attached as a PDF-file, which she can print out on paper or forward to the receiver. In this PDF, the receiver can see all the information needed to redeem the gift card: The amount of money it represents, the code for use on the web, and the bar code number for use in the brick-and-mortar store.
So, now the customer’s friend has received this gift card, and decides to spent it at the local brick-and-mortar store. She decides on a ”Festina Ceramic Collection” watch, so the sales person adds this watch as a sales line in the POS, and presses ”Go To Payment”. He chooses ”Gift Voucher” as the payment method. And scans the bar code on the gift card. The subtotal is then updated from the previous 1.500 to the current 1.100. The customer pays the remaining part of the sum in cash.
And there you go, the gift card bought in the web store, has now been redeemed in the brick-and-mortar store!
