The new month brings a new version of our NP Retail solution! It’s our great pleasure to announce that our product team released a new version of the NP Retail solution (NP Retail Version 20.0) on 27 March 2023.

In the previous period, there was a lot of work behind the scenes to make our cloud-based POS solution even faster, as well as to make our procedures work flawlessly. When it comes to the improvement of existing functionalities, we bring innovations in the field of GS1 coupons and mobile payment via QR codes.

Here’s a short summary of what we’ve been working on in the past period, and in the rest of the article, we’ll bring you a detailed description of each functionality. Let’s dive into our new features:

  1. GS1 Coupons: Paper-based and paperless coupon standards,
  2. MobilePay QR code: Contactless payment via QR code using MobilePay,
  3. Performance toolkit: Better customer experience (CX) in real-time for more users.

1. GS1 Coupons: Paper-based and paperless coupon standards

Nowadays, market competition is rather high. It’s quite hard to keep your customers forever when your competitors offer the same quality products with a much lower price or play with perks that customers can’t refuse. If you give coupons, customers will be attracted to visit your store more often and purchase more items. However, if your store doesn’t have any coupons available, consumers will likely shift or go to similar stores that offer them.

The purpose of coupon numbering and symbol marking is to automate and speed up coupon handling procedures at the point-of-sale. Moreover, coupon issuers and retailers may be able to reduce the costs involved in sorting coupons, administering manufacturers’ payments and producing reports on redemption.

A GS1 system coupon number is used for numbering promotional coupons for manufacturers and retailers as well as tokens with monetary value, such as gift tokens, book tokens, food stamps, luncheon vouchers and social security tokens. The structure of GS1 system coupon numbers ensures uniqueness against all other GS1 system numbers only when used within the monetary area of the appropriate GS1 Member Organisation(s). It allows the customers to get a certain discount on purchasing their products. These coupons have a GS1 barcode and when scanned, the discount amount or percentage is given.

As we promised in Version 18.0 of the NP Retail solution, we bring you more information in this version when it comes to GS1 Coupons. You can see first-hand what it’s like to use GS1 discount coupons on our POS system by watching the video below.

2. Improved MobilePay QR codes: Contactless payment via a QR code using MobilePay

The fact is that we are all very familiar with the iconic black and white square design of a QR code. The increased penetration of smartphones and access to high-speed Internet has led to the massive adoption of QR codes.

In order to keep pace with the current trends on the contactless payment market, we added a new great feature to our cloud-based POS solution – Improved MobilePay QR code.

This new feature will provide all users of MobilePay with the option to pay for their purchase in a more convenient, safer, contactless and faster way. The entire payment procedure is really simple:

  • On your Customer Screen, the MobilePay QR code will appear with the amount; and
  • The customer then opens MobilePay on their phone and scans the QR code to accept the amount.

Watch our demo video below and learn more about this new feature first-hand.

3. Performance toolkit: Better customer experience (CX) in real-time for more users

As we stated at the beginning of the article, our main focus in the previous month was to make our solution even faster, as well as to make the procedures work flawlessly.

Thanks to the Performance Toolkit, we can now simulate the simultaneous work of up to 100 users while they are performing a certain scenario. Further, based on the data recorded in the telemetry, we get significant insights into how our POS application performs under those conditions, whether there are deadlocks or bottlenecks that need to be addressed.

4. Do you happen to have a question? We have the answer!

We hope that we have met your expectations this time as well. If you would like to know more about our new functionalities, please feel free to contact us! We’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.
