Din Boghandel:
A new chapter with NaviPartner and Shopify
For years, Din Boghandel operated its online store using Magento 2 – a powerful but high-maintenance platform. With seven physical stores across Jutland and a loyal customer base, the company recognized the need for a modern, scalable ecommerce solution that would be easier to manage and more aligned with their future plans. The answer came through a combination of Shopify and NaviPartner.
Reduced e-commerce costs
Online sales growth
Faster product creation
From complexity to simplicity:
a strategic technology shift
While Magento offered great flexibility, that flexibility came at a cost – long response times, high dependency on developers, and complex maintenance routines.
The goal was to move toward a more intuitive and cost-efficient setup. NaviPartner’s native Shopify integration with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central offered a seamless alternative that would dramatically simplify daily operations.
Partnership in action:
a collaborative and agile process
The project kicked off in February 2025. By May, NP POS and NP Pay were fully operational in all seven physical stores, and shortly after, the new Shopify-based webshop went live. The implementation was fast and without major issues, driven by close collaboration between the customer and NaviPartner’s team.
Thanks to an open and hands-on approach, the customer was able to actively engage in testing and content setup. This collaborative model allowed their team to quickly gain confidence in working with the new system – not through traditional training sessions, but through guided implementation and shared ownership.
Industry-specific challenges,
tailored solutions
Bookstores face unique ecommerce challenges: customers expect to search by author, title, and standardized book numbers (ISBN). NaviPartner addressed this by developing custom predictive search logic, allowing users to search by multiple criteria with optimized result prioritization.
Books are imported from the Danish national book database “Bogportalen” into Business Central and then synchronized with Shopify via NP Ecommerce. This ensures consistent product data and minimizes manual work.
Gift cards were another area of focus. NaviPartner helped align online functionality with the customer’s existing in-store gift card experience and continues to support further enhancements in this area.
Visible results: simpler management, lower costs
With the new setup, daily webshop management is significantly easier. Tasks that previously required developer support are now handled in-house. The improved system reliability and user-friendliness have led to time savings, smoother workflows, and fewer support requests.
According to the customer, the difference compared to Magento is striking. With Magento, even simple changes like updating the homepage required external help, while Shopify allows the team to manage such tasks independently in minutes. Creating new products has also become much faster — the process that used to take around six minutes now takes only one and a half, representing a 75% time saving for every item added. This efficiency translates directly into more time for value-adding activities. In terms of costs, ecommerce expenses have been reduced by roughly 40%, and the company no longer faces large, unpredictable upgrade bills, making financial planning far more transparent.
Most importantly, the improved platform is already fueling growth: from June to August 2025, online sales increased by around 19% compared to the previous period. When comparing August 2024 (Magento) with August 2025 (Shopify), sales grew by approximately 28%. These results confirm that the new solution is not only easier to manage but also a strong driver of business expansion.
