Easing entries with mPOS at
Egeskov Castle
Egeskov Castle in Denmark has been a vibrant spot for history enthusiasts for over 460 years. Every year, more than 250,000 visitors flock to this charming castle to delve into its past and enjoy its lush parks and engaging events. But as times changed, long entry queues started to form at the gates, thanks to the old-school ticketing system. The shift to a Mobile Point of Sale (mPOS) integrated with the ticketing system marked the dawn of hassle-free entries, keeping the historical charm intact while paving the way for smooth visitor experiences.

The challenge:
Resolving a bottleneck at gates
The daily sight at Egeskov Castle was a mix of excited visitors but with a sprinkle of impatience as they stood in long lines at the entry gates. Despite buying tickets online, the entry process was a slow trot, diminishing the initial enthusiasm. The traditional access controls were becoming a barrier to a seamless dive into history.

”Today many visitors buy their tickets online, but they still have to enter via the access controls, so previously there were often long queues. This is why we invested in the mPoS.

The Approach: NP Ticketing
for a joyful visitor experience
The goal was simple – to speed up the entry process while keeping it straightforward. The mPOS system, tied with the online ticketing setup, came as the needed solution. Positioned at the entrance, it was designed to validate online tickets and season passes quickly, ensuring a rapid transition from the gates to the heart of the castle.

Results: mPOS that ensures
a thrilling day out!
With the new mPOS system, the entry queues significantly shortened. A quick scan and the visitors were in, ready to explore the wonders of Egeskov Castle. The new system didn’t just cut down the waiting time but also made the ticket validation process a breeze, ensuring a pleasant start to the castle adventure.
“The mPOS works as an extra access control at the entrance. We use it to validate our guests’ season cards and web tickets. We scan the barcode on the season ticket, and the mPOS tells me whether or not the ticket is valid. That’s fast and simple.
It is an easy and flexible solution, that we can activate when we get busy – which is quite often. The mPOS helps us ensure that our visitors have a great experience – both at events and throughout the rest of the year.”
